Signs You Don't Want To Ignore When It Comes To Needing Roof Repairs

As a homeowner, you want to make sure that you are doing everything that you can in order to protect the structure of your home. One of the ways to do this is to make sure that you are keeping an eye on the condition of the roof. To help you do that, you will want to check out the following signs of roof trouble that you do not want to ignore.

You Find A Shingle In The Grass

Do not make the mistake of assuming that just because you have only found one or two shingles on the ground that you do not need to take immediate action. Before you know it, more shingles will be on the ground, hiding within your grass. Your roof will then be highly exposed. It does not take a lot of wind power or harsh rains to rip apart the roofing paper. Then the rain water will soak into the wood on your roof, causing it to need to be replaced.

The Roof Line Looks Warped

If you take a step back and take a good look at your roof line, you should notice that it is nice and straight. If your roof appears to be wavy, then you have a serious problem on your hands. A wavy roof is usually a good indication that there has been a significant amount of water damage and the wood itself, along with the roofing paper and shingles, will need to be replaced. The longer you allow this problem to fester, the more likely it is that you are going to end up with water damage inside of your home.

Light Is Shining In

Natural sunlight in the house is great when it is intentional because you had a skylight installed. However, small holes in your roof can let not just sunlight in, but water as well. To check for holes in the roof, you will want to venture up into your attic on a bright and sunny day. Turn off all of the lights and carefully look around the roof. If you spot any sunlight, then there is a hole. It does not matter how small that hole might be, it needs to be repaired by a skilled roofer.

With those three signs of roof troubles in mind, you should have little trouble determining whether you are in need of assistance from a skilled roofing contractor like those at Rainy Day Exteriors.
